Code of Conduct
At DSA, we expect to create a climate in which all individuals are
respected, have an opportunity to grow intellectually, and are
encouraged to develop self-direction and self-discipline. Students are
expected to wear the school uniform.
Faculty
Faculty are selected for their
teaching abilities, their academic training and life experience, their
capacity for concern and understanding, and their commitment to the
philosophy of the school. Core subjects are taught by subject
specialists and the overall student to teacher ratio is maintained at
approximately eight to one. The maximum class size is ten students.

Class Schedule
The school day begins at 8:45 am. The school day is divided into
five 67 minute periods plus a 50 minute for lunch.
Durham Secondary Academy’s academic year is organized into two twenty-
week semester and a four-week summer school. In addition to statutory
holidays there is a two-week Christmas holiday and a two-week spring
break.
The middle school is not semestered.
The daily schedule includes recess and a lunch hour.
